Every autumn, many Croatians make varieties of preserved fruits and vegetables for the long winter, such as cherry, peach and apricot compotes. They also prepare pickles, pickled peppers, sour cabbage … or “Gypsy beans” like this one in the photo … Making jam or marmalade usually from plumbs, is also very popular. All fruits and vegetables people have in their own, small vegetable gardens and orchards or buy them at the local farmers market.
